How to convert REAPER to Pro Tools

REAPER saves projects as .rpp files; Pro Tools uses .ptx files. Neither opens the other's format. Doseedo converts the project itself: upload the .rpp, download a native .ptx with the session rebuilt.

Why there's no built-in way

Cockos and Avid have no shared project format. Pro Tools cannot open a .rpp, and REAPER has no Pro Tools export. AAF gets audio clips across with fades and levels, but it carries no MIDI, no instruments and no plugin chains. The usual fallback — render stems and rebuild — flattens the project. A native conversion keeps it editable.

How the conversion works

Doseedo reads the REAPER project with the same native engine that powers its other directions and writes a real Pro Tools session: a native .ptx with the audio in an Audio Files/ folder beside it. Converting to Pro Tools, the download is the whole session folder — a "<name> Pro Tools" folder holding the .ptx and its Audio Files/ — zipped, so it opens with the audio in place. Zip the REAPER project folder (the .rpp plus its media) and upload the zip; a bare .rpp converts too.

What carries over — and what doesn't

REAPER ↔ Pro Tools carries the arrangement, honestly scoped. What arrives editable: tempo and time signature, the arrangement (every clip at its real position), MIDI notes with velocities, audio clips placed where they were with the media traveling alongside, markers, and per-track volume, pan and mute.

What doesn't carry yet: plugin chains and instrument state (tracks arrive named and placed, devices empty), automation, and sends — the same boundary limits as the other FL Studio and REAPER pairs. If your session leans on those, expect to rebuild them — the arrangement, notes and audio will be waiting.

Do I need REAPER or Pro Tools installed?

Not to convert. You need Pro Tools to open the result — an active subscription or perpetual license on either macOS or Windows.

Can you convert a REAPER project to Pro Tools?

Yes. Upload a .rpp project to Doseedo and download a native Pro Tools .ptx session — the .ptx with its Audio Files/ folder, zipped. The arrangement, MIDI notes, audio clips, tempo, markers and track levels arrive editable. Plugin state and automation don't carry between REAPER and Pro Tools yet.

Does REAPER export to Pro Tools?
